Ivan Kolarić

Computer software can leave quite a dent in your budget, especially if you are paying a monthly subscription for different apps.

Here is our list of popular software that can be substituted with free alternatives that work just as well if not better as the paid ones.

Photoshop alternative

There is no doubt that Photoshop is the most popular image editing software,  people use it for everything from cropping to retouching.

Using Photoshop to edit your images will set you back $250 yearly. If you are using it for cropping and simple photo editing you would be better off using a free alternative such as  GIMP.

GIMP is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, OS X, Windows, and more operating systems. It is free software, you can change its source code and distribute your changes.

Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or scientist, GIMP provides you with tools to get your job done. You can further enhance your productivity with GIMP thanks to many customization options.

OpenOffice is free and works just as well as MS Office. It can read and write Office files with no problem. It might not look as good as Microssooftt  Ofllice but it will get the job done.

Zendesk alternative

Zendesk is a popular customer support tool that helps you track, prioritize, and solve customer tickets. The only downside to using it is that they charge based on the number of users and per month. So, if you’re looking for a Zendesk alternative look no further than Freshdesk.

With Freshdesk’s free forever plan, they give you just that - a feature-packed customer support software for unlimited agents, absolutely free.

Adobe Audition alternative

Adobe audio editing software has user-friendly, intuitive, and feature-packed, but it costs a lot. Audacity offers a lot of the same features like recording, editing files, removing noise, and volume-boosting. You can also apply plenty of other effects to improve the quality of your audio.

Asana alternative

There are hundreds of project management tools available on the market. Asana is by far the most marketed. Trello is extremely simple, super flexible, a pleasure to use, and gives you all the features you need for free.

Toggle alternative

If you and your team track time, you are probably using Toggl to do so as it is simple and easy to use.  Toggle comes with a hefty price tag– $10-20/user/month

TeamBench is a stress-free, easy-to-use time tracking solution for you and your team.
